If you’ve ever needed a tooth crowned before, you know that the process can take some time. In fact, it’s not uncommon to have to wait a few weeks between appointments to get the crown process completed.
Thankfully, there’s a new technology available that allows you to get crowns in place during a single appointment. This same-day dental crown technology is called CEREC, and it’s a service we’re proud to offer to our patients.
But how does it work? And it is as reliable as the “old” method? Let’s take a look.
How does it work?
Essentially, a CEREC machine is an automated laboratory that can machine crowns based off a 3D scan of your teeth. When you visit with a dentist for a crown consultation, you’ll have a scan done of your teeth. The machine is then set to making the crown while Dr. Alexander Zubkov prepares your tooth for the crown.
From there, the rest of the process is just like a regular crown.
Do they last?
These crowns are made from the same material as one you’d have to wait weeks for. Here at Associates in Dentistry in Enfield, Connecticut, our team has seen the gamut of issues with crowns. Ones made in a CEREC machine are just as reliable as you could hope for.
If you’re ready to restore your teeth to their former function and beauty, then CEREC crowns may be the right choice for you. To learn more or to schedule an appointment, call us today at 860-745-2712.
